TRICONEX TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) is a world-leading, fault-tolerant safety platform (Schneider Electric) designed for critical industrial safety applications. It eliminates all single points of failure and ensures uninterrupted, safe operation under any single hardware fault.
What is TMR Architecture?
True Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) means three fully independent, parallel channels process the same input signals simultaneously.
- 3 parallel channels: Input → Processor → Output
- 2-out-of-3 (2oo3) voting: Final value is determined by majority agreement
- Fault isolation: Any single channel failure is automatically detected and ignored
How It Works (Simplified)
- Input Voting: Three channels read the same field signal; majority value is selected.
- TriBus Synchronization: Three main processors exchange data via a triplicated high-speed bus.
- Logic Execution: Identical control logic runs on all three processors.
- Output Voting: Final output is validated by 2oo3 voting before driving field devices.
