1. Chassis Modules
3500/05 – 14‑Slot Chassis
- Standard 19‑inch rack mounting
- Provides backplane bus communication and power distribution
- Used for medium/large rotating machinery (turbines, compressors, generators, etc.)
3500/06 – 7‑Slot Mini‑Chassis
- Compact 12‑inch chassis
- For space‑limited applications or machines with fewer measurement points
- Same functional logic as 14‑slot version, only fewer slots
2. Power Supply Module
3500/15 – Power Supply
- Provides stable DC power to the entire chassis
- Supports 1+1 redundant configuration: automatic failover
- Includes over‑voltage, over‑current, reverse polarity protection
- Front‑panel LEDs indicate normal/fault/redundant status
3. Rack Interface & Communication Modules
3500/20 – Rack Interface Module (RIM)
- Legacy basic interface module
- Handles chassis configuration, basic alarm logic, serial communication (RS‑232/422)
- Largely replaced by 3500/22M
3500/22M – Transient Data Interface (TDI)
The “brain” of the 3500 system
- Centralizes data acquisition and management for all monitor modules
- Built‑in Ethernet port for direct connection to System 1 software
- Hardware‑based real‑time data processing and alarm logic
- Non‑volatile memory:
- 2000 alarm records
- 1000 system event logs (time‑stamped)
- Supports configuration upload/download, online monitoring, module diagnostics
- Supports redundant TDI for critical turbomachinery
4. Relay / Output Modules
3500/32 / 3500/32M – Relay Module
- Provides dry contact outputs for alarm and shutdown interlocking
- 3500/32M supports:
- Voting logic (2oo3, 2oo4, etc.)
- Alarm delay, bypass, and testing functions
- Drives DCS alarms, ESD shutdown, audible/visual alarms
- Final execution element for critical protection circuits
5. Monitor Modules (Core Measurement Functions)
5.1 3500/40M – Radial Vibration Monitor
Shaft radial vibration monitoring
- Accepts eddy‑current sensor signals
- Monitors: shaft vibration amplitude, gap voltage
- Outputs: real‑time vibration, alarm, danger signals
- Used on turbines, compressors, motors, etc.
5.2 3500/42M – Enhanced Vibration Monitor
Enhanced vibration (casing / velocity / acceleration)
- Supports:
- Casing vibration (velocity/accelerometer)
- Shaft vibration (eddy current probes)
- Can perform combined absolute + relative vibration monitoring
- Used on fans, pumps, gearboxes, compressors
5.3 3500/50M – Displacement / Position Monitor
Shaft displacement and position monitoring
- Monitors:
- Axial Position
- Differential Expansion
- Eccentricity
- Keyphasor
- Critical for detecting rotor-to-stator rubbing and catastrophic failure risks
5.4 3500/53M – Speed / Overspeed Monitor
Speed and overspeed protection
- Monitors:
- Operating speed
- Zero speed (0 rpm)
- Overspeed trip
- Reverse rotation
- Complies with API 670 overspeed requirements
- Used for steam turbines, gas turbines, and critical drivers
5.5 3500/60M – Temperature Monitor
Temperature monitoring module
- Supports:
- RTD (Pt100, etc.)
- Thermocouple (J, K, T, E, R, S, B)
- Multi‑channel, isolated inputs
- Used for bearing temperature, winding temperature, lube oil monitoring
5.6 3500/72M – Reciprocating Machinery Monitor
Specialized for reciprocating compressors / engines
- Monitors:
- Piston rod drop
- Pressure pulsation
- Crosshead vibration / displacement
- Designed specifically for reciprocating machinery protection
